Westfield Grade 7 & 8 Students to Stay Put

School portables to come at a cost of $180,000 each

It seems grade 7 and 8 students will not be heading to the high school in Listowel for the time being.

Having faced increased pressure from parents about the potential move, AMDSB trustees have for now confirmed to buy additional portables to put a temporary ease on the growing enrollment in town.

A meeting held in May had trustees discuss this as an option but did not make any concrete plans on the move until making the move at their meeting this month.

The result will see grade 7 and 8 students at North Perth Westfield to remain at the school for at least another 4-6 years.

School portables are expected to come with a cost of $180,000 each.

Schools across North Perth have been looking to address issues of increased enrolment which has been affecting Listowel Eastdale, Mornington Central and Westfield.

Eastdale, among the most crowded see’s 351 students in the school meant for a learning space of 297 which the board learned has seen classes taking place in the school library.
