West Region OPP Lay 2600 Charges Over Long Weekend

 

West Region OPP kept busy laying over 2600 charges over the May long weekend with their Canada Road Safety Week campaign.

Running from May 16th-22nd police were out targeting the “big four” impaired driving, aggressive driving, not wearing a seat belt and distracted driving.

Over the six days across 13 detachments in the west region laid 1552 speeding charges, 60 impaired driving, 94 seatbelt charges and 22 distracted driving.

The total number charged is up from the 2400 charges laid in the 2022 safety campaign.
