Wellington County will be setting up community pantries at library branches in Palmerston, Arthur and Elora.
A motion approved during a county council meeting on Thursday gave the green light for the pilot project.
A report showed across Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph 17.9 per cent of households are facing food insecurity.
People are able to visit the library and pick up non perishables no questions asked.
The pilot program will run for the year with hopes to start up as soon as possible.
