North Perth council on Monday heard from United Way Perth-Huron regarding the Quality of Life report.
Done in part with United Way’s Social Research & Planning council put together a series of reports looking at the quality of life across Perth and Huron Counties.
The report showed the median age in Perth County is 42.4 with a population increase seeing in North Perth with a growth of 15,538 in the 2021 census.
Kristian Crane with United Way breaks down where the growth is coming from in the municipality.
“Currently the main factor contributing to population growth in our economic region is intra-provincial migration. Those are individuals who have moved from elsewhere in Ontario.” said Crane
According to the report Perth-Huron struggles to keep up with the “Living Wage” which was set by United Way in November at $22.75 per hour.
This marks the 2nd year in a row for the 2nd highest rate across the province.
The report adds the Perth Median income is $37,600, below the provincial average of $39,200.
