Across Huron and Perth Counties, a multi day heat event is expected to continue into Friday.
Maximum temperatures will reach 30-32 degrees with humidex values reaching between 37-42.
Huron-Perth Public Health says a heat warning was issued in Huron County which comes when high temperature or humidity conditions reach criteria established by Environment and Climate Change Canada and could pose an elevated risk of heat related illnesses such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
Extreme heat can affect everyone but the risks are greater for older adults, infants and young children, people who work in the heat and those under low income who might not have access to cooler air.
Public health says the best way to protect yourself is to drink plenty of cool liquids like water, wear loose fitting, light coloured clothing, plan outdoor activities in cooler parts of the day and prepare meals which don’t need to be made in the oven.
