The Perth County OPP is warning the public after another case of sextortion has occurred. The recent event involved a 15-year-old from West Perth.
In this case they met someone on a popular social media app. The victim shared intimate photos, at which time the suspect threatened to share them with friends and family if he did not send more photos.
The victim sent the suspect $150 hoping the threats would stop.
Police say there is always a risk in sharing any personal or sexually explicit images over the internet.
They say if someone starts demanding payment and threatening you regarding anything to never pay the money, block them, screen shot messages and contact police immediately.
