The Civic Day Long Weekend Traffic Campaign runs from July 30 to August 2, 2021 and the Huron and Perth County OPP will be engaged in this campaign to enhance safety on area roads.

The Civic Holiday Weekend enforcement and education campaign is a provincial initiative designed to increase public awareness and compliance with safe driving practices, specifically around the “Big 4”; aggressive driving, seatbelts, distracted driving and impaired driving and a particular focus on the “Move Over” legislation.

This legislation requires drivers to slow down and change lanes, if safe to do so, when approaching stopped emergency vehicles such as ambulances, police cruisers and fire trucks as well as tow trucks.

The OPP commends the many safe drivers who contribute to safe Ontario roads. The OPP will continue to work with motorists with an aim to reduce the number of collisions and resulting deaths and injuries on OPP patrolled roads.
