Huron County OPP would like to offer the following tips to help property owners protect their property.
· Deter potential criminals. Ensure outside lights work and consider motion sensor lighting
· Prevent break and enters. Keep garage doors and entry doors secure at all times
· Lock doors and windows. Even if you’re going out for a short time. Install quality locks and a deadbolt on each outside door.
· Avoid access by intruders. Lock your vehicles at all times. Remove or secure valuables out of sight, even when in the garage.
· Store bicycles and other valuables in garages and sheds.
· Trees, shrubs and fences can create hiding spots for criminals. Keep your landscaping groomed and limit privacy fencing.
· Watch for suspicious people or activity in your neighbourhood. If you see something, say something! Don’t hesitate to call police if something seems out of place.
