The Ontario Government announced today that the Ontario Summer Games originally scheduled for 2020 in London then postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic will now take place in 2024.
The government also announced an up to $1 million dollar grant to organizers to help offset operational costs, such as accommodations, food and transportation of athletes for those participating at the games.
The games provide a chance for Ontario Athletes to develop their skills and experience high-level competition. It is a springboard to some athletes for national and high-level competitions.
The local economic impact of the games is pegged at $5 million dollars.
The next edition of the Ontario Summer Games are scheduled for next July 21st to 24th in Mississauga.
