Federal Government Tables Conversion Therapy Ban Bill

Bill to close loopholes and ban conversion therapy

The Federal government has tabled a new bill in their latest efforts to ban conversion therapy in Canada.

If the legislation passes, it would prohibit practices designed to change someone’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

Bill C-4 looks to close loopholes such as taking a child outside of Canada to undergo conversion therapy in a different country.

The bill is expected to garner support from many parties.

Perth-Wellington MP John Nater voted in favour of amending the criminal code in regards to conversion therapy known as Bill C-6 held back in June.
