After having the discussion for months, almost none was needed by council on Monday to approve a pilot project to get stop arm cameras on school buses in North Perth.
After being moved to take action by John and Ryan Chapman from Newry Coach Lines, council made the decision to support a pilot project by local school bus operators to install stop arm cameras on buses.
Councilor Allan Rothwell says in his discussions with John Chapman, cameras will be given to both local school bus operator
“He hopes it would be both Newry Coach Lines and Elliot Bus Lines and specifically in the higher risk areas he has determined would be Perth Line 86 and Highway 23 or Road 164 in particular” said Rothwell.
Given the approval from council, there is still some other details needing to finalize such as getting support from the local OPP detachment.
