The City of Stratford and Stratford Police issued a joint statement to say they are aware of the plans for an outdoor religious service originally planned for Market Square in Downtown Sunday.

Mayor Dan Matheson and Police Chief Greg Skinner have reached out to organizers to stress the importance of adhering to the requirements in the Province’s Roadmap to Reopen. In particular, in Step 1 which began Friday, outdoor religious services are permitted but are capped at the number of people that can maintain a physical distance of two meters apart.

Al Fresco outdoor dining and Sunday Slow Food Market are in and around Market Square and were previously scheduled, and because of concerns with a large crowds gathering in Market Square Sunday, organizers have been asked to hold their service at the Packham Avenue sports complex instead.

The site was offered as a more appropriate location, as it allows participants more room for safe social distancing, the public washrooms will also be available at the site, the pavilion will provide shelter if needed dand adequate parking is available.

Organizers have been co-operative and have agreed to move their event to the alternate site.
