Work Begins at Listowel Memorial Arena Park

Shovels are now in ground for the Listowel Memorial Arena Park.

The project which has been many years in the works has worked closely with council and town staff which quickly gained up a committee and launched a fundraiser who are near $800,000 and are around $400,000 away from reaching their goal.

Jerry Rozendal, Chairman of the Listowel Memorial Park Committee says to finally get shovels in the ground is something to already honour survivors of the 1959 tragedy and the families.

“The importance of getting this going right now is that the survivors and parents of the survivors are getting elderly and they need to I feel, need to see something that is a memorial on the site of the tragedy.” said Rozendal.

SHIFT Landscaping who’s heading the work say completion of the park could be come by November this year.
