Witness reporting impaired driver leads to arrest in Fergus

Police were approached by a witness to report the incident of impaired driving

On May 9th at approximately 8pm members of the Wellington County OPP were approached by a witness reporting a possible impaired driver on Elizabeth Crescent in Fergus.

Officers located the vehicle and commenced an investigation.

As a result a 45 year old male of Fergus has been charged with operation while impaired blood alcohol 80 plus contrary of the criminal code

.A 90 day driver’s license suspension and 7 day vehicle impoundment were initiated. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.

The police ask that if you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol call police or 911 to report it.
