The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance announced today that as a result of ongoing healthcare staff shortages, the Wimgham & District Hospital Emergency Department will close overnight tonight.
The closure will begin at 11 pm tonight and last until 7:00 am tomorrow.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS will remain available to the community and will be re-routed to surrounding hospitals.
The closest hospitals are Listowel, Clinton, Goderich, Palmerston and Kitchener-Waterloo.
LWHA says the move is a temporary measure and their staff, board, physicians and leadership regret that they had to take this step.
