The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority has recognized William Lyons with the Kayla Berger Stewardship Award.
The award is given to a resident within the watershed with a passion for environmental conservation and displayed exceptional stewardship in protecting the natural environment.
The award honours Kayla, a young UTRCA staff member who passed away in 2019.
In a release, Scott Gillingwater, UTRCA Species at Risk Biologist says Will has been with them long enough that some young turtles released from eggs are now adults within the population – ensuring long term viability of species within the watershed.
