The flags in West Perth are at half mast, honouring former Mayor Hugh McCaughey.
The municipality in a statement say Hugh will be fondly remembered for his years of dedicated public service including six years as councilor and six as Mayor of Mitchell in the 1990s.
Hugh was also well involved in the community being a member of the Mitchell Lions and served as the manager of the Mitchell Co-op for over 20 years.
