West Perth Council Preparing for Fall School Year

Around 30 families without student transport for next year

West Perth is planning ahead for the next school year as more students in the west end of Mitchell will be without bus service.

The municipality will be hiring a crossing guard and install pedestrian warning signs on St George Street.

Around 30 families learned last month Huron-Perth Student Transportation Services would not offering services after the Henry Street bridge was complete.

This is due as the families live under 2 kilometers away from Upper Thames Elementary on Frances street as set from the Avon Maitland District School Board approved policy.

West Perth CAO Jeff Brick says the Henry Street bridge is a great addition to have better walking capabilities for the community, its just the current matter of getting kids safely to school starting in the fall.
