With the Fergus area soon to be awash in Scottish pride as part of the Fergus Scottish Festival & Highland Games launching tomorrow, Constable Jacob Unger of the Wellington County OPP took to social media to offer some advice to those planning to take part in the event.
“There will be several road closures throughout the town of Fergus this weekend. Starting with tonight portions of St. David Street, St. Andrews Street and Power Street will be closed for the Scottish Parade which will be taking place from 7:30 until 8 pm.”
Police also advise to be aware of parking designated as event parking.
They say do not park in front of someone’s driveway or on their lawn.
They add your vehicle could be ticketed or towed.
The Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games have been around since 1946.
#Fergus @CentrWellington is hosting the @FergusScotFest this weekend. Some parking tips from #WellingtonOPP: park only in designated areas, abide by street signage, and don't block driveways! Also expect traffic delays tonight due to temp road closures for the parade. ^JU pic.twitter.com/AfLGNdI8GC
