Wellington County is holding a series of farm transition planning workshops helping those prepare for the transfer of farm management, ownership and assets from one generation or party to another.
These come as over the next decade around 1000 Wellington County farms are expected to transition management or ownership.
Transition planning includes putting together strategies for financial arrangements, legal transfers, knowledge sharing and more.
According to the 2021 census, 10.5 per cent of Wellington County farms, or 276 had a written plan to navigate these future changes.
