Wellington County is helping share the importance of pollination.
A third of our food relies on insect pollination so to aide in this part of nature the area is developing pollinator gardens at closed County Landfill sites. The move is part of the Waste Services Strategy for the area.
There are 30 varieties of trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses at the Aberfoyle Pollinator Garden which opened last fall.
There over 17 hundred plantings which attract butterflies, months and bees for pollination as well as a food source for larvae.
