Officials with Wellington County have announced their plan to have the state of emergency lifted by the end of the year.
An announcement on Wednesday from the county noted the plan to end the emergency at 11:59pm on December 31st so long as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to decline.
Wellington Warden Kelly Linton says while there really is no longer a need for a local state of emergency, he stresses the pandemic is still not over.
Wellington County has been under a state of emergency since March 23rd 2020.
