The Wellington County OPP were called to an incident at Guelph Lake after receiving a report of a swimmer in distress.
The incident happened at 6:15pm this evening near the island in Guelph Lake at the Guelph Lake Conservation Authority. Police, Guelph-Wellington Paramedics and the local fire departments attend the scene and began searching for the missing swimmer.
At approximately 7:30 pm the swimmer was located and was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The name of the person is being withheld pending next of kin notifications.
