The Provincial RIDE campaign has concluded and Wellington County OPP led all West OPP jurisdictions in alcohol related driving charges once again.

The campaign ran from November 26th to January 2nd, 2021 and was aimed at improving the safety of everyone on the roadways by removing those drivers who continue to drive while impaired.

The Wellington County OPP conducted 91 RIDE checks throughout the campaign and charged a total of 20 people with impaired driving offenses (including refusal to provide a breath sample) and 11 more people received warning range suspensions (50-80 mgs/100ml blood).

That is a rate of nearly 1 in 3 drivers that were stopped were charged or received warning range suspensions.
