The Region of Waterloo has purchased one third of Wilmot property which has been marked for future investment.

On Thursday the region announced they purchased one third of the 770 acres identified as prime property for future projects.

The land purchase however has been poorly received by farmers and parts of the public who have been fighting against the move.

Waterloo Region says the land between Nafziger Road, Bleams Road and Wilmot Centre Road has been chosen given its proximity to Highway 7/8 as well as existing water, hydro and wastewater infrastructure.
