A water rescue on the Saugeen River was a success from the weekend as the victims took the right measures.
On June 20th the Hanover Fire Department received a call for the rescue in the area of Hanover Park.
Two patients and their dog had capsized their canoe and were stranded on a fallen tree in the middle of the river.
The fire department responded with Hanover Police as well as Grey and Bruce County paramedics. The patients had a personal flotation devices and means of communication.
Bystanders had the What3Words app to pinpoint the location for emergency services.
The Hanover Fire Department says those in the canoe did everything right including have properly fitted PFD’s, carrying a means of communication and being prepared in the event of an emergency.
