One person is facing a number of charges following an incident in North Perth.

On March 11th just after 2am a Perth County OPP officer observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Line 57 in North Perth. The investigating officer believed the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it failed to stop, and a tire deflation device was used by an assisting officer to slow the vehicle.

During the interaction, the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, drove into a police cruiser and then ended up in a ditch on Perth Road 164. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

The suspect fled on foot, breaking into a nearby garage at a residence, where they were located with the assistance of the ERT and OPP Canine Unit.

As a result a 25 year old male of Mitchell has been charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, operation while prohibited under the criminal code, break and enter at a dwelling with intent to commit an indictable offence, failure to comply with a release order and 2 counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
