More Stratford residents are speaking out against the demolition of Stratford’s first public hospital.

An info meeting and vigil is planned on Saturday in Market Square, behind City Hall hosted by those sharing concerns the plans of tearing down Avon Crest on John Street South.

The one hour vigil starts at 11am with the meeting following shortly after.

Avon Crest has not been named as a heritage site but Councilor Cody Sebben has plans to reopen the discussion at next week’s council meeting.

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance will keep the tender for the demolition open until March 30th.

President Andrew Williams says if someone approaches them with a timely, funded and responsible plan for the building they would listen but he has not yet heard from anyone.
