Greg Hayter says the 6th Anniversary of the Vic Hayter Memorial was moved a couple of weeks forward to August 8th this year in hopes the Covid-19 restrictions would be lifted enough so fans could be in attendance for the $15,000 race. The plan appears to have worked.

A year ago the 5th edition of the race was held without fans due to pandemic restrictions.

Beyond honouring the memory of his father Greg says the event has hopes to one day be a family friendly event similar to the Little Brown Jug.

Covid-19 restictures have put the carnival like atmosphere on hold again for this year.

Vic Hayter owned many hotels but is perhaps best known for operating the Arden Park Hotel and Festival Inn in Stratford. He passed away in February of 2016 due to cancer. He was 77.

Managing the hotel business took up most of Vic’s waking hours but he always made time for Clinton Raceway. He owned standardbreds for 38 years.

The August 8th card begins at 1:30pm and Clinton Raceway welcomes fans back to the stands for a fantastic day.
