United Way Perth Huron has launched its yearly campaign hosting a kickoff party in Listowel Friday afternoon.

In years past United Way has used their annual campaign to address what they list as the unignoreable issues locally including homelessness and housing.

Last year, UWPH raised $2.36 million along with a further $542,000 for United Housing,
resulting in a record-setting grand total of $2.89 million.

This year comes with a goal to raise $2,529,770.

Lee Anne Andriessen, UWPH North Perth Community Committee Chair says its another big goal for the year, but one they are motivated to reach.

“Through police services we’ve learned that mental health is one of the largest concerns that they respond to. It just means that we need to be more motivated to reach the gaol this campaign and make a difference here in this community” said.

Donations and support continue to be encouraged for United Way to help them reach their highest fundraising total to date to all be kept locally.

Funds raised will help ensure individuals and families have access to the resources needed when they need.

United Way Perth-Huron supports 11 partners and programs in North Perth including the 211 helpline, North Perth Community Outreach, United Housing’s work on mixed income housing including the Music Hall Apartments Development in Listowel.
