The goal they are aiming for is $2,289,671. Recent successes in area include Hope Links program but North Perth Community Committee say there is so much more to do.

The United Way Perth-Huron held kickoff events today across the region to announce its fundraising goal for this years campaign.

The goal they are aiming for is $2,289,671.

Lee Anne Andriessen, Chair of the North Perth Community Committee for the United Way Perth-Huron says funds to date have done so much for the community but adds there is so much more that needs to be done.

“We can really celebrate the work that has already been done with Hope Links. But there is still more to be done and we still see the faces of poverty, families being affected adversely by our economy, and we need to do something with housing. Our next goal is to create some housing, some united here in our community for those that need that support.”

The local United for a Bite event was held in the parking lot of Ward & Uptigrove in Listowel.

The company held its own fundraisers toward the cause including a staff competition that will see the winner wear an inflatable costume into downtown Listowel on a chosen day.
