Some Wellington North councilors are thinking otherwise on a report on the Saugeen catchment area’s economy which says unemployment rates across the area are dropping.
The report which includes Wellington County showed there were 400 unemployment insurance claimants in the area during June, a drop of 10 per cent in 2022.
Councilors such as Penny Renken says she knows locally to the township businesses are desperately looking for employees.
CAO Brook Lambert says some of the issues could be seen based on unemployment rates and hiring issues such as required skill sets for positions in need.
Lambert adds there are pockets of works sectors with shortages which locally is short on retail salespeople.
