Statistics Canada released their employment numbers for March and the Labour Force Survey has shown national employment rose by 73,000 jobs or 0.4 percent in March.
This drops the unemployment rate by 0.2 percent to 5.3% This is the lowest rate on record since comparable data became available in 1976.
Employment gains were driven by women aged 55 and older and men aged 25 to 54.
Both goods and service producing sectors saw increases. Ontario and Quebec were the main provinces to benefit.
