Unemployment Rate Drops Locally and Across the Province

Stratford-Bruce unemployment drops to 7.9 percent, 11 percent in Ontario

Despite the 2nd wave of COVID-19 and rising concerns of some shutdowns in the cities surrounding the “hotspots” unemployment is down locally and across the province.

Septembers numbers show an almost 1 percent drop in unemployment in Stratford-Bruce putting the number to 7.9 percent.

A lot of employment rise comes from wholesale and retail trade as well as scientific and technical services. These gains were offset from the drop in educational services and real estate.

Ontario’s total unemployment rate is at 11 percent, a decrease of 1.1 percent.
