Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is pushing aside comments internationally about calls to re-open Canada’s border and allow international travel.
Trudeau says the border remains closed out of fear of spreading variants and pushing Canadians back into lockdown which could result from reopening too quickly.
Legislators from the midwest United States have asked the White House and Ottawa to reopen the border for fully vaccinated travelers.
France is asking Canada to allow the French to travel to the country as they have since allowed Canadians to travel to France.
Border restrictions are currently set to expire next week.
