Farmers across the Maitland, Pine River and Saugeen Watersheds are all invited to take part in a coming tree planting workshop in Lucknow next month.
The workshop will focus on how attendees can get up to 100 per cent funding coverage for on farm projects, complete with guest speakers Kate Procter of Bodmin Farms and Christine MacIntyre of Rail Line Farms, both of who have had experience on their farms from pasture windbreaks to reforesting flood prone farmland.
Marisa Roefs, Stewardship Project Lead for Maitland Conservation says there are plenty of benefits to available programs for both the farmers and the land around them.
“On the farm itself for farmers its going to help reduce erosion, reduce soil loss it will help them cast some shade for their cattle. On a larger scale what it really does is help provide some habitat for wildlife is one thing” said Roefs.
The workshop is taking place at the Lucknow Legion on April 9th with event registration available here.
