A traffic stop in Centre Wellington has resulted in firearms and drugs being seized and two individuals being charged.
On July 20th just after 7:30pm, Wellington County OPP was joined with Grey Bruce’s and Huron-Perth’s Community Street Crime Units and the Emergency Response Team for a stopped vehicle.
A loaded handgun and a quantity of drugs were seized as well as Canadian currency. The value of the items taken is valued at over $11,500.
As a result a 22 year old Waterloo has been charged with;
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
· Carrying a Concealed Weapon
· Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
· Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
· Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm.
Another 22 year old Waterloo has also been charged;
· Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
· Occupant of a Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
· Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
· Carrying a Concealed Weapon
· Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
· Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Both were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
