The Town of Minto will be spending around $68,000 to address structural concerns with the pedestrian bridge at Lions Heritage Park in Palmerston.
The project is part of an $80,000 bridge rehabilitation project. The bridge was originally used to allow pedestrians to cross town over the busy rail yard, though the yard has been closed for many years.
The bridge was closed for repairs back in June due to issues found in the bridge and culvert inspection reports. Inspection showed the integrity of several columns on the structure had been compromised.
With work to start of repairs for the bridge, there is also a plan to add lighting to the structure.
Work is likely to be done in mid to late October.
