Welcome to Roland’s Good News File… brought to you by Royal LePage Don Hamilton Real Estate… I’m Roland Archer.
If you have spent any time on social media lately you have seen the battle. Not a battle of force or might but of words… and funny ones at that.
There is a sign war battling right now in Listowel and it all started at the corner of Mitchell Road South.
Speed Glass Owner Trevor Cork is the instigator of this amazing diversion. He tells us how it all got started.
“With the town being hit so hard with the lockdowns and boredom. No better way to make people smile.”
Trevor didn’t know how Dairy Queen would respond to his opening jab. Neither business owner discussed what salvos would be exchanged through their signs.
“I don’t know if they were maybe watching. I had my guy changing my sign and within a half hour they were out changing theirs.”
The future messages are all unknown to both sides before hand. Residents will take in the replies between Dairy Queen and Speed Glass as they happen.
“I feel I have yet to speak to them. This is a complete shot in the dark. Nobody knows what’s coming next.”
The community’s involvement in this campaign has been rewarding to the business owners as well. Trevor explains that seeing how involved people have been getting has really been uplifting.
“Just reading the comments and stuff that hav ebeen on the Facebook posts. Just seeing everything come out. To see the support and the laughter coming out of this is so much fun.”
And don’t think the battle needs to stop with these two Listowel businesses. Trevor says if another area business wants to make a move he’s game.
“Keep on your toes. There is no wrong sing. If you want to jump in and have fun by all means. I’ll take a shot at ya.”
