A text scam has resulted in a West Perth resident being defrauded money earlier this week.
Perth County OPP launched an investigation after receiving report of the incident that saw a parent lose $3,000 after receiving a text message from someone claiming to be her daughter asking for money.
The OPP reminds everyone to beware of potential scams by following the tips of being suspicious of calls or texts requiring immediate action, also to never send money or other funds to an unverified person and to confirm the identity and legitimacy of a story from a family member before completing any such transactions.
