Senior hockey locally continues be to be quite popular, and the Milverton Four Wheel Drives senior hockey team is no exception. The team, as part of the WOAA SR league has been going strong for 50 years.

While not off to the hottest of starts for October, there is hope to kick off November into a better note.

Head coach Mike Chapman says senior hockey offers quite the variety of ages and skill brought to the table which leads to exciting back and forth hockey action

“It’s guys that can be anywhere from 21 and probably the oldest guy in the league I think he’s 47. There’s anywhere from Junior C to Junior A to ex pro in this league. It’s a very competitive league.” said Chapman

For the Four Wheel Drives, its no slow down of upcoming home games each taking a theme. Including near the end of the month with their Movember game which has players rep someone who’s impacted their life with cancer.

“November 27th were doing a Movember game for cancer. The guys have got yellow sweaters and putting whoever they want on the name on the back and that’s who their supporting that night”

The boys will welcome the Minto 81’s for their Movember match as they run most of November on the road with stops in Creemore, Shelburne and Shallow Lake.

Coming later in the season will be the Drives Alumni game which Chapman, so far is shaping up to be a great day of local hockey to check out.

“We’re going to have 2 games, 40 and under and 40 and over. We’ll have the 2 games and we’ll play our local rival against Tavistock right after that.”
