Student from Hullett Central Public School Raises $1500 for local area charities

Grade 6 student motivated after hearing of difficulties in area due to Covid-19

A local grade 6 student from Hullett Central Public School in Londesboro is celebrating after doubling her donation to local area charities.

Leah Boven’s efforts were initially started to raise 750 dollars for the local North Huron Food Bank.

But seeing the impact Covid-19 was having on her community through updates from her school showed her she had to do more.

She doubled her fundraising goal selling barbeque sauce and maple syrup and was able to donate the additional 750 dollars to the Huron Women’s Shelter Second Stage Housing Facility in Clinton.

Leah says this to those at her school who played a big part in her fundraising efforts.

“My Principal really helped me. He did the food drive. But I have to thank another teacher there Ms. Elder. I knew I wanted to do something. She’s our Leadership Committee Teacher. She helped me with that.”
