Wellington North is backing fellow councilor Steve McCabe as he puts his name forward as the Zone 2 representative at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) for the term of 2023-27.
ROMA sets its matters on everything rural including growth and resiliency, a path for better cellular connectivity and farm safety regulations.
McCabe says he has seen support lined up beyond just the municipality.
“I have a good idea of what’s going on in all of the county’s and have lined up some support out of Perth County, Southgate and Minto and working on the others. Hopefully have a good connection in the region of Waterloo.” said McCabe.
McCabe adds should he be elected, it shouldn’t interfere with his work for Wellington North.
ROMA members will be voted in Toronto at a conference on January 23rd.
