The next steps are being taken on regulating cannabis production and processing in Wellington North.
As council has now seen policy, regulations and best practices in April, they were recently updated and informed on bylaws to accommodate the production and processing of cannabis.
Among the biggest discussions when it comes to cannabis production is odour, which County Development Planning Manager Curtis Marshall says there are solutions which can be done.
“Some of things the Township has that we can utilize is where cannabis facilities are specifically located in relationship to sensitive land uses. So we can introduce a zoning bylaw, setbacks, adjacent residential uses.” said Marshall.
Future meetings and discussions of further steps are still required which includes a public meeting and final report to be brought forward to approval from council.
