The St Marys Fire Department has been selected by North City Insurance Brokers for two First Responder Sensory Kits through the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council’s Sensory Kit initiative.
These kits were developed to help firefighters and others create a calmer more supportive environment during emergency calls, mainly for individuals with autism or sensory sensitivities.
Chief Fire Prevention Officer with the St Marys Fire Department, Chris St. Clair says every member of the community deserves to feel safe and supported, especially during emergencies and these kits will help better connect with individuals experiencing sensory challenges and provide a more positive response experience.
