The South Huron Fire Department has received 162 combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarms from Safe Community Project Zero, a public education campaign done with the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety council.

The project has the goal to provide more than 10,000 alarms to residents across 50 municipalities in Ontario.

Enbridge Gas is investing $315,000 in the project and over the last 15 years has provided more than 86,000 alarms for Ontario fire departments.

Fire Chief Jeremy Becker says this grant will allow firefighters to help the community by helping those with a smoke and CO alarm and give residents a break from their pocket book.
