Some Ontario volunteers will be able to get police record checks done for free.
The removal of the costs for criminal checks and criminal record and judicial matter checks for volunteers was part of legislation the government passed late last year and will take effect tomorrow.
The government says this will make it easier for Ontarians to volunteer at places such as food banks, animal shelters and other community groups and organizations.
Volunteers will be able to receive up to five copies of the record checks for free.
