Stratford’s Social Services Department spoke during Monday’s council meeting In North Perth to discuss the findings of a public forum they held regarding housing and homelessness.
A consultation held in North Perth to discuss the topic was held in April with residents who attending voicing their concerns.
Kelly Stone, Supervisor of Social Services says since May 31st this year, they’ve seen a number of those experience homelessness across the area.
“175 households were experiencing homelessness in our service area. 90 per cent of those were experiencing chronic homelessness which basically demonstrates any individual experiencing homelessness for longer than 6 months” said Stone.
Councilor Allan Rothwell made a comment on the matter saying council needs to get Premier Doug Ford and MPP Matthew Rae to the table to discuss this topic and to invest and address the needs within the community around housing.
