Stratford Police advised today that thanks to quick thinking staff at a local Shoppers Drug Mart there an instance of fraud was prevented.

The incident occurred on Friday just before 2pm.

A Stratford resident attended the Shoppers location at 511 Huron Street and attempted to purchase two $500 visa gift cards.

Staff at the store were concerned regarding the purchase and discovered the female had been contacted by phone and advised she had won $1 million dollars.

All she had to do was pay a service charge of $1000, and the money sent to the seller.

The Stratford Police commended the staff on identifying the situation and prevented a community member from being taken advantage of.
