Safety booms and buoys have all but been removed from the Grand River Conservation Authority who are prepared for the winter.

The booms and buoys are put in every spring upstream of dams to warn fishermen, paddlers and boaters to stay away from the dam.

Removing them is needed as they could be damaged or displaced if they stay in for the winter.

As per Transport Canada, safety booms or buoys should be place during the navigation season which is from May-October.
